“Gone Golfing”
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother returned to his Heavenly Father October 7, 2011 from complications of a stroke he suffered in 2010.Ottie was born December 12, 1932 to Ottis W. Ainsworth and Ada Beatrice Campbell. Sadly, his mother passed away that day from complications of childbirth. Ottie spent his early years in the home of his Aunt Vallie. Later he joined his father, stepmother, and siblings in Shreveport, LA. The family moved to Utah and he attended South High. He was active in sports and had many great friends.
Ottie married Margaret Kay Farnswoth November 17, 1953, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised five wonderful children. He was a great dad. He was involved in all of their activities, spending many hours caring for his children. He was proud of their accomplishments. His grandchildren were so special to him. He loved spending time with them taking them to the park, going to their ballgames, or taking them for a treat.
Ottie was a member of the LDS church and served in many positions including Elders Quorum presidency, Sunday School presidency, and Cub Master. He was an Eagle Scout. He served in the National Guard 8 years. He worked as a sales rep for Warner Lambert, Gillette, and Revlon.
Ottie loved the game of golf. He was a well known amateur golfer and played in many tournaments. In later years, he worked at Hidden Valley Country Club, He enjoyed working and playing there.
Ottie is now free to golf on Heavenly Greens. His passing leaves a great void in our lives. Beatrice you can finally hold your son. Thank you for his life.
Survived by his wife Maggie. Sons, Mark, Riverton, UT; Kevin (Emma), Tigard, OR; Brian (Darci), SLC, UT; Tim, Riverton, UT. Daughter, Susan (Brian) Jeppesen, Hot Springs Village, AR. 18 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. Brothers, Charles (Ruthal) and Jerry, Henderson, NV. Sister, Bibbit Pierce, Shreveport, LA. Brother in law, Jim (Patty) Farnsworth, SLC, UT. Preceded in death by parents and sister Betty Jeanne Craner.
Funeral services will be held Saturday October 15, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the Tithing Hill Ward 1208 West 12400 South. Viewings will be held on Friday from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 So.) and on Saturday from 10:30 to11:30 am prior to services at the church.
