“Mr. Magnificent”
George Burge – 78, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, was born in Salt Lake City Sept. 23, 1933 to Karl F. and Goldie M. Burge and passed away at IMC on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011.George retired in 1955 from the Electrical Construction field and was a proud member of IBEW Local 57. He was also very proud of being a veteran of the US Navy aboard the USS Carmick in the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed 50’s music, classic cars and was in many local car shows with his brothers, Fred and Karl (Dieter). He also loved his trips to Wendover and just being with his sweetheart.
George is survived by his wife of 29 years, Andrea Gates Burge; son, Jeffrey (Becky) of Wyoming; daughters, Teresa Vega (Louie) and Terrilyn (Sean), both of California; step-daughters, Kim, Jennee and Melanie Mannos; 12 grandchildren; brother, Karl Burge; sister-in-law, Bonnie Burge; nieces and nephews; and mother-in-law, Orale Gates. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Richard (Nadine) and Fred; sister-in-law, Sharon; and father-in-law, Fred Gates.
A visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street. Graveside services will be Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 S. Camp Williams Road.
