(May 15, 1926 - October 11, 2011)
Our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Ella Marie “Angie” Schritter Hadley passed away on October 11, 2011. She was reunited with her eternal companion, Vard, who passed away on July 10, 2010.
She was born May 15, 1926 to Emanuel and Amelia Schlecht Schritter in Blackfoot, Idaho. She grew up on a farm several miles out of town without running water or electricity. She graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1944. She went to Nurses Training in Boise, Idaho and graduated in 1947. She married Vard Hadley in Ogden, Utah in 1948. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple in 1953. She and Vard lived in San Jose, California for forty years. She worked as a surgical nurse at the San Jose Hospital and also many years as an office nurse. She and Vard enjoyed traveling and sightseeing in the United States. They went camping at Lake Tahoe with their two children, Kathy and Tom.
She was very supportive and helped Vard with many of his school activities. She was also very involved with PTA, Little League, and Girl Scouts. She loved flower arranging, decorating and reading.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She especially enjoyed working with the children of the church. She and Vard loved their calling as Temple workers at the Oakland Temple. She cherished the long drive as a time for special uninterrupted conversations with Vard.
We would especially like to thank Harmony Hospice for their kind and loving care for mom.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy McElroy, her son, Tom (Becky) Hadley, her grandchildren, Kyle Hadley, Travis Hadley, Jackson (Mallory) Hadley, Amanda (Mac) Steele, Carly (Tuomas) Groves, her great granddaughter Tessah Steele, another great granddaughter soon to be born, and her sister Carolyn (Dale) Lancaster.
